Within the 95 acres of the overall site, we have created some 26 individual campsites
of varying character. Some are wooded, others are on open sites and one borders
the 8 acre lake. They vary in size from sites suitable for a patrol or a Duke of
Edinburgh's Scheme hike party to larger sites suitable for a Troop or District camp.
Some adjoining sites can be combined to accommodate a District or larger event or
rally. The biggest event we have staged so far was our Centenary camp in 2007 when
numbers peaked at around 4000 people! We also have areas set aside for bivouacking
and backwoods camping. Some groups have even camped overnight on the islands in
the lake! |

TOILETS & SHOWERS |
|
There is a modern, permanent toilet and shower building on site built in 1999 with
the help of a grant from the Millennium Lottery Fund. |
It provides flush toilets,
handbasins and hot showers. The building is designed to be easy to clean & maintain
and the number of compartments in use can be varied according to the mix of males
to females on site. It also incorporates a separate toilet and shower unit for disabled
use.
It is a superb facility much appreciated by our visitors!
Because we have to pay for water used on site and for sewage to be taken away by
tanker, the use of the showers is controlled by tokens costing 50p for a 4 minute
shower. These are available from the Duty Warden on site
During the busy periods in the summer or for large events, we hire additional portable
toilets and shower units. |
